As per the report published by the Office of Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disability, almost 2.21% of the overall population in India, i.e., approximately 2.68 crore individuals are registered under the PWD category.

Based on The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act of India, 2016 and The Mental Healthcare Act of India, 2017, the Reliance Specially Abled health policy caters to the most vulnerable sections of our society. The Reliance General Insurance Company Limited has curated this health insurance for Persons with Disability, those who are inflicted with HIV/AIDS, mental illness, etc.

Coverage after Waiting Period

Certain diseases and treatments are covered under this plan after a certain time period. Read the details below:

Specified conditions: 2 years for specific diseases. A continuous coverage of 24 months is mandatory after the date of inception of the first policy.

Pre-existing conditions (PEDs): 24 months for pre-existing disability/ 48 months for all PEDs other than HIV/AIDS and Disability.

Specification of Reliance Specially Abled Health Policy

The Reliance Specially Abled health insurance covers several conditions for those who are physically unprivileged. You can read here the list of what's covered within the policy:

  • In-patient treatment

    Room rent/nursing/boarding- 1% of the SI. ICU/ICCU- 2% of the SI is covered.
  • Pre-hospitalization

    Covered for 30 days before hospitalization, available for AYUSH, modern and in-patient treatments. The only applicability is through reimbursement claims.
  • Post-hospitalization

    Covered for 60 days after getting discharged from hospitalization, available for AYUSH Treatment, modern and in-patient treatments. The only applicability is through reimbursement claims.
  • Cataract

    Covered on a sub-limit basis as per the opted sum insured upto a maximum of INR 40,000 per eye in a policy year.
  • Daycare procedures

    All daycare procedures are covered as per the terms and conditions mentioned in the policy documents.
  • AYUSH treatment

    The treatment expenses for in-patient treatment of alternative systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) are covered upto 50% of the sum insured.
  • Modern treatment

    Based on the in-patient treatments and daycare procedures, modern treatments are covered upto 50% of the sum insured.
  • Ambulance

    Ground ambulance facility is available up to a maximum of INR 2,000 per hospitalisation event.
