It extends the limit of your treatment expenses, specified in the prospectus's cover section. The Young Star Extra Protect policy also offers differentiating benefits, given that your Young Star health insurance policy has a sum insured value of up to INR 10 lakhs and above as Extra Protect on Young Star policy is not applicable/valid below this limit.

The room rent limit is the maximum bed charge you can claim if you are hospitalised. Common Room categories covered under room rent are all kinds of rooms including single, private and AC rooms (except suite).

is Co-payment?
In the co-payment clause, policyholders have to pay a preset amount (either compulsorily or voluntarily) of the hospitalisation expense on their own and the insurer will pay the rest of the medical bill amount.

is the Sub limit?
Sub limit is a condition in which the insurer will have to pay the medical expense up to a certain percentage and the remaining amount will have to be paid by the policyholder.
For instance, if your policy covers room rent for upto 20% of the sum insured, but the expense of the same is more than 25%, you will have to pay the rest amount, i.e. 5%, for your room rent.

Claim guard
It provides cover for non-medical (consumable) expenses if the specifications are mentioned in your base policy.
Enhanced room rent limit
The room rent limit, nursing, and boarding expenses are increased with this add-on cover to provide you with maximum hospitalisation benefits.
Modern treatment
The cover will enhance your modern treatment expenses limit above the specified limit up to the sum insured according to the base policy’s modern treatment cover. The sub-limits described above apply to this cover.
Bonus guard
It protects the cumulative bonus from reduction due to partial/full exhaustion of the base policy’s basic sum insured. This feature allows you to avail an extended sum insured benefit in the next policy year.
Home-care treatment
Any specified or listed treatment done under home care is subject to a maximum of 10% of the base SI or up to INR 5 Lakhs in a policy year. This criterion is only applicable to the homecare treatments scheduled under your base policy.
Cumulativе Bonus
WAll the premiums paid towards the Young Star Extra Protect policy are eligible for tax benefits under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act 1961, depending on the tax relief under your base health policy.
How to Claim Young Star Extra Protect Policy?
To avail of a claim settlement against the base policy over the Star Extra Protect plan, here are the guidelines you’ve to follow:
Inform your insurer about getting hospitalised at least 24 hours before getting admitted. Visit the official website of Star Health Insurance.
Click on the ‘Claim’ button on the header of the official website, followed by ‘Claim Intimation.’
For claim intimation, the official website has a pre-authorized form that you can fill in with details like name, contact number, email, policy number, city, and product name and click on the ‘Submit’ option.
In the case of cashless claim settlement (in networking hospitals), the medical bills will be settled directly with the hospital. In case of reimbursement, pay medical bills on your own, the insurer will reimburse your claim amount after verification of the claim's legitimacy.
